CGD House
The design explores the interplay of texture and tone as a strategy to define the home’s character. Monolithic stone walls establish a grounded, architectural presence, while dark wood introduces depth and tactility, tempering the stone’s solidity with a sense of warmth. The meeting of these two materials creates a deliberate dialogue to achieve balance between structure and softness. The palette, dominated by hues of grey, natural stone, and wood, reflects the homeowner’s preference for a darker, more masculine tone. Yet the interior remains inviting, layered with warm lighting and gentle transitions between spaces that allow the home to feel both private and connected.
This residence stands as an honest expression of material and form of restrained, solid, and enduring. Beyond its structural presence, it is designed to endure over time, ageing gracefully and developing its own narrative in parallel with the lives of those who inhabit it.
