ATELIER transforms a bustling shopping centre into a tranquil retreat, exploring the interplay of light, materiality, and space. Through reflective surfaces, stainless steel, and chromatic-effect details, the café creates a serene balance between celestial inspiration and everyday experience.

The reflective glass material used on the front serves as the backdrop for the logo, creating an inviting atmosphere that enhances the sense of spaciousness.

The bar’s lower section, crafted with mirrored surfaces and enhanced by dichroic tiles, creates the illusion of floating, adding a deeper, ethereal touch and dynamic visual effect to the space.

The furniture design explores stainless steel, creating a balance of lightness and strength, adding both elegance and durability to the space.

Atelier is a café that offers a unique lifestyle experience, centred around the interplay of light and space. The design concept explores the connection between the celestial and the human through the symbolic illumination of light, creating a harmonious balance within the space. The concept aims to evoke a sense of spiritual connection, drawing inspiration from the reverberations of illumination of the sky. Located within one of Bandung's vibrant shopping centres, Atelier Café responds to its bustling surroundings by offering a tranquil, enclosed retreat that contrasts with the fast-paced environment outside. The design emphasises the dynamic relationship between light and space, using these elements to craft a sensory experience that transports visitors into a realm of calm and introspection.

The design strategy focuses on maximising the café experience by exploring concepts of whiteness implied by texture, transparency, and reflectiveness. The material palette features stainless steel, mirrors, and chromatic-effect tiles, creating dramatic visual sensations and an illusion of depth. These elements create an expansive and airy atmosphere that fosters openness and serenity. The bar, placed centrally within the space, symbolises the celestial connection, with mirrors beneath it offering the illusion of floating. This dynamic focal point and the Barrisol ceiling lights highlight the spatial thematic connection between the sky and the ground, creating a dramatic and ethereal lighting effect that enhances the ambience. This design transforms a commercial space into a sensory retreat, offering a balance of functionality and concept that provides a memorable and immersive experience for all who visit. The project highlights a balance between functionality and concept, inviting visitors into a dynamic and visually striking space where light and materiality in design create a compelling environment.
