     Spatial

Located on Jalan Bahureksa in Bandung, the project is a steakhouse that reinterprets the street’s layered sense of exclusivity through a contemporary dining experience. Drawing from the area’s evolution from an exclusive social milieu to a curated lifestyle destination, the design grounds a classic steakhouse typology within its urban context. The design approach prioritises spatial organisation and programme, shaping architectural decisions from within. Inspired by Western golden-age steakhouses, the space combines neo-classical structure and Art Deco influence, articulated through a restrained material palette and a hierarchy of dining zones that support both communal and intimate dining experiences.

Jalan Bahureksa in Bandung provides the project's contextual framework, allowing the interior to reinterpret the street’s layered sense of exclusivity through a contemporary dining experience. Once shaped by an exclusive social milieu and later evolving into a curated lifestyle destination, the area offers a setting through which a classic steakhouse typology is reimagined.

Exclusivity within the restaurant is expressed as a shared experience. Reflecting Indonesian dining habits, where meals are commonly enjoyed in groups, the interior is organised around a series of dining zones that accommodate collective gatherings while maintaining comfort and restraint. Proportion and spatial sequencing balance openness with intimacy, supporting varied dining modes within a cohesive environment. The interior language draws from Western golden-age steakhouses, articulated through a combination of neo-classical structure and Art Deco influence. Marble surfaces lend weight and permanence, while mosaic detailing introduces texture and rhythm at a more intimate scale. Dark wood textures and warm-toned upholstery temper the space's formality, making it feel composed yet inviting.

Architectural interventions are guided by the interior programme. A skylight above the double-height dining hall introduces natural light into the restaurant's spatial centre, shaping the atmosphere throughout the day without disrupting the subdued mood expected of a steakhouse. The existing spiral staircase is retained as a sculptural element, providing continuity between dining levels. The arrival sequence reinforces the dining narrative. A glass window showcases the meat display positioned at the reception, establishing an immediate impression of quality, followed by framed views into the main kitchen, where the preparation of steak becomes a visible part of the experience. The project presents a contemporary interpretation of the classic steakhouse, where luxury is articulated through spatial clarity, material restraint, and shared presence.
